Pending or stuck transactions

A pending transaction has been sent to the network but isn't confirmed yet. Most confirm on their own within minutes. When the network is busy or the fee was low, it can take longer, and on some networks you can speed it up or cancel it.

Why it's pending

  • The network is busy. Many transactions are waiting, and the ones that pay more go first.
  • The fee is low. It's below what others are paying right now.
  • An earlier transaction is still pending. A transaction marked Queuing waits for an earlier pending transaction from the same address. Speed up or cancel the earlier one first. On Bitcoin and some other networks, FxWallet doesn't send a new transaction at all until the last one confirms: see Network rules FAQ.
  • The status is behind. FxWallet can take a few minutes to show that the network has confirmed a transaction.

Speed it up or cancel it

On EVM networks, such as Ethereum and BNB Chain, a pending transaction that you sent from this phone shows Speed Up and Cancel, both in the coin's history and on the transaction's page.

  • Speed Up sends the same transaction again with a higher fee. The new one replaces the old one, so you pay only one fee: the higher one.
  • Cancel replaces the transaction with one that moves nothing. The replacement pays a network fee too, and it works only if the network hasn't confirmed the original yet.

FxWallet doesn't offer them:

  • on other networks, such as Bitcoin, Solana and TRON
  • for a transaction whose network fee you paid with a Gas Card or a token
  • for a transaction sent from another phone or wallet app: speed it up or cancel it there

A transaction marked Queuing can only be cancelled, on the transaction's page. If neither option shows, wait for the transaction to confirm.

Check it in a block explorer

Open the transaction, copy its transaction hash (TXID), and look it up in the network's block explorer, such as Etherscan for Ethereum. The explorer shows whether the network has the transaction and whether it's confirmed.

If it disappears from the list

FxWallet removes a pending transaction from the list, without an error, when the network drops it or another transaction takes its place. After a Speed Up or Cancel, for example, only one of the two confirms. On some other networks, such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin, FxWallet also stops listing a transaction as pending after a while, even though the network may still confirm it.

Before you send again, look up the transaction hash in a block explorer:

  • Confirmed: the transfer went through. Don't send it again.
  • Still pending: it can still confirm. Wait, or you may send the same transfer twice.
  • Not found, even after several minutes: the network dropped it, so nothing was sent and no fee was paid. You can send again.

If it stays pending

If it's still pending after 24 hours, contact support with the transaction hash (TXID).
