Fake apps and phishing

Scammers copy FxWallet's name and icon to make fake apps and websites that steal mnemonic phrases, or trick you into approving transactions. Install FxWallet only from the App Store, Google Play or www.fxwallet.com, and don't open links or scan codes from people you don't know.

How fakes reach you

  • Search ads: a fake site pays for an ad above the real result, with an address that looks almost the same.
  • Text messages: a message says your wallet needs an update or a check, with a link to a fake app.
  • Posters and posts: an offer of free tokens or lower fees if you scan a code to download the app.
  • Chats and groups: someone posing as FxWallet support sends a link or a file.

Protect yourself

  • Download FxWallet only from official sources, and check that it's genuine. See Download FxWallet and check it's genuine.
  • Open FxWallet's website and channels only from Official FxWallet channels.
  • The real FxWallet asks for your mnemonic phrase only when you choose to import a wallet. An app or site that asks for it to "verify", "sync" or "upgrade" your wallet is fake.
  • If you entered your mnemonic phrase or private key in a fake app or site, act as if your wallet is compromised and move your assets at once.

To report a fake app, site or account, email a screenshot to support@fxwallet.com, or use Me → Feedback in the app.

Malware and fake job tasks

Malware on your phone or computer can read what you type or copy, take screenshots, and swap a wallet address you copy for the scammer's. Scammers spread it through fake job interviews and paid "tasks".

  • Common tricks: a recruiter asks you to download and run project code or a "test tool", a paid task asks you to install an app or connect your wallet, a group shares a file or a "cracked" app, or someone asks for remote access to your screen.
  • Protect yourself: install software only from official sources. Never type or view your mnemonic phrase on a computer, or on a phone with apps from unknown sources. Check the whole address before you send.
  • If you think a device is infected: if you ever viewed or typed your mnemonic phrase or private key on it, treat your wallet as compromised, and create the new wallet on another phone that you trust. See What to do if your wallet is compromised.
