An approval lets a smart contract spend one of your tokens, up to the amount you approve. Swaps, DApps and some Earn products ask for one before they can move a token for you. A malicious contract with a large or unlimited approval can take that token at any time, even long after, without asking again. Approve only what you need, and revoke approvals you no longer use.

## When FxWallet asks you to approve

- **Check who is asking:** the website's address, letter by letter. FxWallet shows the address that gets the approval under **Contract**.
- **Check the token and the amount.** **Unlimited** lets the contract spend all of that token, now and later. It saves approving again, but it's also what scammers ask for. When FxWallet offers **Custom Allowance**, use it to approve only the amount you need.
- **Take FxWallet's warnings seriously.** If it says "Please be advised that this contract has been identified as risky." or "This contract is uncatalogued. Please confirm its safety before proceeding.", don't approve unless you're sure the DApp is genuine. An approval without a warning isn't necessarily safe.

Some tokens, such as USDT, need their allowance set to 0 before you can approve a new amount, so FxWallet asks you to confirm two transactions.

## Revoke approvals

1. On the **Wallet** tab, tap **More** → **Approvals**.
2. Tap the DApp or contract. A red warning icon marks contracts known to be risky.
3. Tap **Revoke** next to each token, check the network fee, then tap **Confirm**.

To revoke several at once, tap **Batch Revoke**. Each revoke is a transaction with its own network fee, except on networks where your address has the [EIP-7702 upgrade](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/eip-7702): there, the revokes you select go out as one transaction. **Approvals** lists token approvals on EVM networks.

## Approval scams

Scammers advertise fake airdrops, NFT mints and new tokens in Telegram, Discord and other social media. When you connect and approve, often for an unlimited amount, they can take the token from your wallet. If you approved a contract you don't trust, revoke it at once. See [If you approved a scam contract](https://docs.fxwallet.com/security-and-scams/if-your-wallet-is-compromised#if-you-approved-a-scam-contract).
