To swap, open the **Swap** tab, choose the token you pay and the token you want, enter the amount, then tap **Swap** and confirm. A swap exchanges tokens on one network; to move tokens to another network, see [Bridge tokens to another network](https://docs.fxwallet.com/swap/bridge). Before you confirm, check what you'll receive and what it costs.

## Slippage

Slippage is how far the price may move between your quote and the moment the network carries out the swap. If the price moves more than your slippage allows, the swap fails. The higher you set it, the worse the price you may accept.

To change it, tap **Slippage** in the swap details:

- **Auto Setting**, the default, sets the slippage for the tokens you chose, to give the swap a good chance of going through. Its current value is shown next to it. If FxWallet has no recommended value, it uses 1%.
- Or tap 0.1%, 0.5% or 1%, or type your own value. Volatile tokens, or tokens with little liquidity, may need more.

FxWallet warns you when your value is so low that the swap may fail, or so high that it could cost you a large part of what you receive. **Minimum Received** shows the least you'll receive at your slippage.

## Price impact

A large swap in a token with little liquidity moves the price against you. When the price you'd get is well below the market price, FxWallet shows the estimated loss and asks you to confirm that you understand the risk. When the loss would be too large, you can't swap that amount at all. To lose less, swap a smaller amount, or split it into several swaps.

## Fees

The swap details show two kinds of fees:

- **Network Fees**: the gas fee paid to the network, in the network's native coin or with a Gas Card. See [Not enough gas for a transaction](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/not-enough-gas).
- **Fee**: FxWallet's service fee, with its rate as a percentage. When it applies, it's already included in the quote and isn't charged again. Some swaps have no service fee. Tap the info icon next to it for your swap's details.

FxWallet picks the route that gives you the most after fees. You may also need to approve the token you pay with, which is a separate transaction with its own network fee. FxWallet approves only the amount you're swapping, so a later swap of the same token can need another approval. You can choose **Unlimited** instead to approve once, but that lets the contract spend all of that token in your wallet. See [Token approvals](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/token-approvals).
